Jason Turyahabwa has more than 15 years of experience in development programs especially on those focused on community development. He has also over 10 years experience in teaching in high academic institutions. Jason currently works with Uganda Christian University, Mukono as a Lecturer in the Faculty of Divinity & Theology- Child Development & Children Ministry department and a Principal of Kyambogo Career Development Institute, Kampala/ prior to this he worked with Stromme Foundation/ Church of Uganda as a Program Officer. While working with Stromme Foundation, he also worked with Makerere Institute for Social Development as a Lecturer. He also works with Africa Development Torch Ltd (ADT) as an Associate Consultant specializing in Research, Consultancy and Training.
He is also a member of Uganda Faith Writers Association where he has contributed in making the country’s national anthem meaningful to the citizens. He has also contributed on the book entitled “My Desert Experience” which is currently under publication process. In addition to the above, Jason is writing a book on Children at Risk- a Challenge to the Church.
Jason has a range of experience in donor funded community projects. He has experience in both qualitative and quantitative research. He is able to work on own initiative and as part of a team in hard to reach areas. He is able to communicate in English, Runyakitara and Luganda. He has proven management and leadership skills as well as ability to develop and implement organizational strategic plans to achieve organizational objectives. He is an effective communicator at all levels. He is good at problem solving and analytical skills as well as project information writing. He is dedicated, organized and innovative team player, with ability to impart others for transformation.
II. Qualifications.
Jason holds a Masters Degree in Management Studies (MMS) from Uganda Management Institute (UMI); He also holds a postgraduate Diploma in Christian Ministry (PGDCM) from Uganda Christian University, Mukono ( UCU); postgraduate Diploma in Management (PGDIM) from UMI; a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Sciences (majoring in Sociology) from Makerere University (MUK); Diploma in Marketing from Institute of Accountants & Commerce of Uganda ( IAC); Certificate in Management from (UMI); and Certificate in Project Planning & Management from Makerere Institute of Adult and Continuing Education ( IACE). In addition he has attended many short term capacity building workshops.
III. Other Services.
Jason served in various voluntary positions at St. Mark’s Church of Uganda Kibuye East and was Head of Laity for seven years in the same church. He served as Chairman Mission Committee and Vice Chairman Evangelism at St. Andrews Church of Uganda Bukoto for a period of two years. He also served for four years as on a parish council for St. Andrews Church Bukoto. He is now the Chairman Brethren Fellowship in the same church serving for the second term of two years each. Jason also served as an executive member of Parent Teachers Association (PTA) at Our Lady of Good Council Gayaza for two terms.
