Membership

UFWA is a membership based organisation. What this means is that, to become a member, an individual has to pay a lifetime fee plus an annual subscription fee. Currently, these stand at 50,000/= and 30,000/= respectively although prices may change in the future. Returning members only have to pay the annual subscription.

Our members have direct access to our activities as shown on our calendar and also pay discounted fees to external workshops and other activities that we organise with our partners. In addition to these benefits, members are part of a community of writers and profit from the encouragement, tutorship, and direction they receive from each other. It has been known that working together, especially for us Africans, is much more productive than plying away alone. This is the mentality that UFWA wants to develop in its writers: a sense community without squashing individuality.

This is our membership form. Please read the rules attached to it as membership is not automatic. Writers have to show proof of an active writing life and agree to adhere to the organisation’s rules and regulations.
